He graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Trombone performance having studied with the legendary teacher Emory Remington. After performing with the National Arts Center Orchestra for 4 seasons he won the position of Principal Trombone in the Vancouver Symphony, a position he held till 2009.
Gordon taught for 33 seasons at the University of British Columbia and the Academy of Music. As well, he performed for 34 seasons with the C.B.C. Radio Orchestra.
He is currently runs Cherry Classics Music, a brass music publisher & distributor. Since retiring from the Symphony he enjoys performing solo recitals with his wife Joyce a Pianist.
