For the first time, the Fanfare and Theme from Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra is available for six Trombone ensemble with optional Timpani & Organ. Mr. Jeremy Kempton has arranged the iconic Fanfare which was used in the legendary movie "2001", along with the first main theme of the great Strauss work. The arrangement can be played with or without the Timpani or Organ by advanced performers. The Fanfare comes back to finish off this wonderful music.

Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 – 8 September 1949) was a leading German composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras. He is known particularly for his operas, Lieder, and tone poems. Strauss, along with Gustav Mahler, represents the extraordinary late flowering of German Romanticism after Richard Wagner, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style. Strauss's music had a profound influence on the development of music in the twentieth century. Strauss was also a prominent conductor.

Jeremy Niles Kempton received his bachelor's degree at Eastman School of Music as a pupil of Emory Remington, and his master's degree at the University of Illinois, studying with Robert Gray. He then held the solo trombone position with the Tehran National Opera and Symphony Orchestras.  

  Mr. Kempton has been music director of over 50 productions of musical theater and 3 operas in the New York City area and is the founder and conductor of the Island Chamber Symphony. He currently resides in Long Island, NY.
